Aidan’s Anime Band is a project that was brought together by tenor saxophonist, Aidan Wong, to fulfill a vision that included playing some of his favourite melodies of all time with his friends while implementing their skill sets as improvisers to bring the music to life with fresh, jazz-inspired arrangements. A passion for Anime and Japanese culture unites these souls, while their unrelenting and lifelong commitment to instrumental improvisation cultivates it, which describes the very essence of Aidan’s Anime Band. Expect a wide range of Anime, video game and J-pop music, ranging from instantly recognizable classics from the music of Joe Hisaishi (Studio Ghibli), immaculate gems from the rough from less well known anime such as Relife, to beautifully written J-pop songs from extraordinary bands such as Lamp.
Aidan’s Anime Band has been around for a bit more than a year. Starting as a project for a Concert Practice in the Conservatorium of Music, they have expanded and grown into the band they are now, having played many gigs at Lazybones Lounge and being a part of JAM Fest last year.
